Asante Mizan named Northern Elite Football Ravens’ new Head Coach

We are proud to announce Asante Mizan has been named the Ravens 2017 Head Coach!

Asante is a Toronto born-Brooklyn, NY raised former CIS-OUA athlete. Asante was a 5-year starter for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on both sides of the ball including Offensive and Defensive Line and Fullback.

Asante was invited to the 2015 CFL Toronto Regional Combine and was invited for workouts with several of the CFL teams. In 2015 Asante was signed by the Montreal Alouettes and played in 2 games. He was released later that year and returned to Laurier to complete his eligibility and help the lead the Golden Hawks to it’s first second round playoff appearance in over 10 years. He was named a 1st Team OUA All-Star for his efforts as a Defensive Tackle. He finished his 4-year defensive career with 82.5 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass break up, and 1 interception for a 30 yard TD.

With his university career finished, and mini-camp with the Hamilton Tiger Cats behind him, Asante in pursuit of being a professional athlete, came to play in the AFL with the Fort McMurray Monarchs who he would then help capture the National Title as Defensive Rookie of the year for the Monarchs. Asante participates in numerous community events including Anti-Bullying initiative W.I.T.S at the elementary schools, and After-School Sports Program. The Ravens are excited to have him join the family.
